Volunteer Experience Coordinator

SUMMARY

Assists with the coordination of all volunteer programs and services for the organization, including; volunteer recruitment, screening, selection, supervision, recordkeeping, documentation, recognition and retention programs. .

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. This list is not all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Communicates daily with volunteers to schedule shifts, assist with the registration process, and answer questions about the Food Bankís volunteer program.
  • Assists volunteers with shift check-in and conducts an on-site Food Bank orientation for volunteer groups before the start of their shift.
  • Works daily with Food Bank staff to provide updates on scheduled volunteer groups and ensure that there is adequate volunteer support to meet daily production needs.
  • Recruits volunteers to meet Food Bank production needs via phone and email communication, website updates, community volunteer fairs, and on-site information sessions.
  • Communicates with prospective volunteers to inform them about existing volunteer opportunities and connect with projects that match their interests, skills, and experience.
  • Coordinates and oversees the Skills-based Volunteer Program.
  • Acts as the internal and external point of contact for Skills-based volunteer inquiries and support.
  • Supports staff with developing Skills-based Volunteer roles and recruits volunteers to fill open positions.
  • Maintains the CERVIS database, ensuring the accuracy of volunteer shifts, contact information, and service hours.
  • Works with the Volunteer Experience Manager to ensure that the volunteer experience is enjoyable, positive, and satisfying.
  • Assists the Volunteer Experience Manager with the development and implementation of regular surveys and feedback opportunities for volunteers.
  • Collaborates with the Development, Advocacy, and Communications Departments to explore ways in which to provide a more well-rounded experience for volunteers.
  • Communicates with volunteers on a regular basis about volunteer opportunities and Food Bank news.
  • Maintains and updates the Volunteer Experience section of the Food Bankís website and external volunteer recruitment platforms.
  • Works with the Volunteer Experience Manager to explore unique ways for volunteers to provide assistance to the Food Bank and its partner programs in the community; develops and implements new volunteer projects as appropriate.
  • Assists the Volunteer Experience Manager with the planning and execution of the annual recognition event.
  • Assists with statistical reports on the extent, nature, and value of the Volunteer Experience Department and its programs.
  • Acts as the backup in the absence of the Volunteer Experience Manager.
  • Maintains required job knowledge, skills, and core competencies. Attend and participates in required educational programs and staff meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred. College coursework towards a degree mandatory. Previous experience coordinating volunteers a plus. Must have volunteer experience in some capacity. Must possess outstanding communication skills with strong attention to detail. Must be able to effectively work in a team atmosphere with highly diverse people. Willingness to work beyond normal working hours, when necessary. Proficiency in Windows based computer software mandatory. Database experience a plus.
