Communications and Events Intern (unpaid)

INTERNSHIP PROJECT: Support programs and activities which promote the activities and events for the Greater Cleveland Food Bank.

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING:

Assist with the execution of key Food Bank events

  • Assist with planning efforts and execution for the Food Bank’s Annual Meeting
  • Assist in final preparations and execution of Taste of the Browns, the Food Bank’s annual fundraiser held at the Cleveland Browns stadium.

Assist with the coordination of communications strategies

  • Draft articles for Food Bank publications including press releases, e-newsletter articles, etc.
  • Updating and maintaining media tracking efforts of the Food Bank
  • Draft social media posts for publication on the Food Bank’s social media channels
  • Attend resource gathering trips with Food Bank staff to collect pictures and stories from clients
    • Organize and upload assets to the Story Bank and maintain the Story Bank
    • Writing client stories for use in all Food Bank publications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enthusiasm for and an interest in the fight against hunger
  • Good interpersonal/telephone communications skills and strong writing skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Windows-based software
  • Ability to manage and organize multiple assignments

ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Small-scale event management experience
  • Dependability, flexibility, and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Customer service experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ability to work up to 15 hours per week within business hours (8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday)
  • Using a computer to create written communication
